To form negatives with "used to," simply add "not" after "used." For questions, invert the subject and "used to." For example:
- Negative: I did not use to like vegetables.
- Question: Did you use to play the piano?
5. Contrasting "Used to" and "Would":
"Used to" is often confused with "would" when talking about past habits. However, there is a subtle difference between the two. "Used to" is used for past habits that are no longer true, while "would" is used for past habits that may still be true. For example:
- I used to live in London. (I don't live there anymore)
