I am Head of Department of Spatial Information and Digital Technology in the School of Communication Engineering at the University, perhaps the most prestigious university in Information Technology and Electronics in China, and I am writing to recommend Mr. ZHANG, one of my favorite students, for acceptance into your Master's program.
For the last 20 months , as Head of the our Department, I got to know Mr. ZHANG and often talked with him when he came to ask me about the questions that he had come across in the course of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) ,which is one of the core subjects of our department. He studied conscientiously and showed great interest in it. As we talked, I found that ZHANG was very skilled in expressing his ideas through diagrammatic curves and mathematics. He thus left me with a deep impression.
Studying with conscientiousness, Mr. ZHANG often came up with creative ideas. Unlike some other students, he studied not to just pass the exams but to practice and improve his knowledge and expertise. That has won him appreciation from not just me but my colleagues as well. But he did do well in exams too. He got high score in the final exam of experiments of GIS and Database system.

It is a great pleasure for me to recommend Ms 麦兜as a quality candidate for admission to your program. I taught her College English for two semesters, so I came to know this student very well. I would like to take this opportunity to comment on her academic achievements.
I first became acquainted with Ms 麦兜 in the 2002-2003 academic years, when she took the course “College English” that I taught. Therefore I had many opportunities to observe her performance in her undergraduate years. A diligent student, her academic record ranking is high and she is one of the top students in her major. In a strict grading system like ours, her academic record represents a remarkable achievement.
As a teacher, I know that we gave students an absolutely strict standard to the score especially the fundamental courses. Some of her scores seem a bit lower, but if you take the difficulty of the test papers and our strict grading into account, you are sure to understand why such scores are still among the top .
I was deeply impressed by her intelligence and diligence in study. For instance, her dissertation “XXX” which has already been published in one popular magazine in China showed her attribute. She is the only student in her major who has made achievement like that.
Also she translated that dissertation into English by herself. During that time, she asked me some questions about translation actively. There is no doubt that she is good at analytical thinking and independent work. When she wrote the dissertation, she
read a lot of relevant books and articles on the Internet and this proved her ability in study all by herself. A very independent thinker, she enjoys reading widely and will have no problems keeping up with the demands of a postgraduate course.
I would also like to compliment Ms 麦兜 for her English proficiency. She is good at communicating in both oral and written English. She has had attended the classes of native speakers’ for two semesters because she is preparing for the further study in a foreign country. As a result, she is able to get high scores in CET4 and TOEFL.
Now, sophisticated as a professional and mature as an inpidual, she has set her sights on still more advanced training, from which she hopes to be admitted to your famous university.
