The Tradition of Chinese New Year

Chinese New Year, also known as Spring Festival, is the most important traditional holiday in China. It is celebrated on the first day of the lunar calendar, which usually falls between late January and mid-February. The festival lasts for 15 days, with each day having its own significance and customs.

Preparations for Chinese New Year begin well in advance. People clean their houses thoroughly to sweep away any bad luck and make room for good luck to enter. They also decorate their homes with red lanterns and couplets written on red paper. Red is believed to bring good fortune and drive away evil spirits.

On New Year's Eve, families gather for a reunion dinner. This meal is considered the most important of the year, and all family members try their best to attend. Traditional dishes are served, such as fish, dumplings, and rice cakes. These foods symbolize prosperity, wealth, and happiness for the coming year.

During the festival, people visit relatives and friends to exchange New Year greetings. The most common greeting is "Gong Xi Fa Cai," which means "Wishing you prosperity." Children and unmarried adults receive red envelopes with money as a symbol of good luck and blessings. Fireworks and firecrackers are also set off to scare away evil spirits.

The Lantern Festival marks the end of the New Year celebrations. People release lanterns into the sky or float them on rivers to symbolize letting go of the past and welcoming a new beginning. Lanterns are often decorated with riddles, and solving them while enjoying the lanterns is a popular activity during this festival.

Chinese New Year is not only celebrated in China but also by Chinese communities around the world. It is a time for family reunions, feasting, and joyous celebrations. The festival showcases the rich cultural heritage of China and highlights the importance of family and tradition.

My Memorable Chinese New Year Celebration

Chinese New Year is always a special time for me and my family. It is a time when we come together to celebrate, reconnect, and create lasting memories. One Chinese New Year celebration that stands out in my mind is the one from two years ago.

I remember waking up early in the morning to the sound of firecrackers and the smell of delicious food being prepared in the kitchen. The whole house was filled with excitement and anticipation. My parents and grandparents were busy decorating the house with red lanterns and paper cutouts. The atmosphere was festive and joyful.

As the day went on, more and more relatives and friends started arriving at our house. The living room was filled with laughter, chatter, and the aroma of traditional Chinese dishes. We exchanged New Year greetings, hugged each other, and wished each other good fortune and happiness for the coming year.

One of the highlights of the day was the reunion dinner. All family members gathered around a large table filled with an abundance of food. We savored the delicious dishes while sharing stories and memories from the past year. It was a time for us to reflect on our blessings and express gratitude for the love and support we have for one another.

After dinner, we continued the celebration with various activities. We played traditional games, such as Mahjong and Chinese chess. We also lit fireworks and firecrackers, filling the night sky with colorful sparks and loud bangs. It was a spectacle to behold and added to the festive atmosphere.

As the night came to a close, we gathered in the living room to watch the annual Spring Festival Gala on television. We sang along to the songs, laughed at the comedic skits, and marveled at the beautiful traditional performances. It was a perfect ending to a memorable Chinese New Year celebration.

Chinese New Year is not just about the food, decorations, and festivities. It is a time for family, love, and gratitude. It is a time to honor our traditions and strengthen our bonds. My memorable Chinese New Year celebration reminds me of the importance of cherishing our loved ones and making the most of every moment we have together.

Find the corners of each persons mouth with a strange radian. I also found that the corner of the mouth of the merchant is larger than the curve of the customers mouth. The corners of the childs mouth are larger than the corners of the mouth of the merchant. I saw that everyone (including kids) had a bulging bag of stuff. I can smell sugar gourd, roll, squid and honey in everyones mouth. The noise of the shouts, the laughter and the faint quarreling.

I went home. Found out in the field uncle suddenly appeared in this, the next firecrackers just like every family has appeared, each family is like the body has the use of the endless laughing gas. I laugh as if I were poisoned.

In the evening my mother threatened me, "I want to be on my guard today, otherwise, dont get lucky money." I have to fight for my lucky money.

As I get older, I dont know if I am too greedy or what, I find that the flavor of the year is becoming less and less.
