正如我轻轻的来;
是夕阳中的新娘;
油油的在水底招摇;
不是清泉,是天上虹;
向青草更青处漫溯;
悄悄是别离的笙箫;
正如我悄悄的来;
Again Departing from Cambridge (English Translation)
Gently, I depart,
Just as I gently came;
I wave my hand gently,
Bidding farewell to the clouds in the western sky.
The golden willows by the river,
Are like brides in the sunset;
The shimmering reflections on the waves,
Ripple in my heart.
The tender water chestnuts on the soft mud,
Sway gently beneath the water;
In the gentle waves of the Cam River,
I am willing to be a water plant!
The pool under the shade of the elms,
Is not a clear spring, but a rainbow in the sky;
Crushed among the floating plants,
Settling like a dream of a rainbow.
Searching for dreams? Paddling a long pole,
Rowing upstream to where the grass is greener;
Loaded with a boat of starlight,
Singing in the colorful starlight.
But I cannot sing,
Silently playing the parting oboe;
Even the summer insects are silent for me,
Silence is the theme of tonight's Cambridge!
Quietly, I depart,
Just as I quietly came;
I wave my sleeve,
Leaving behind not a single cloud.

Very quietly I take my leave
As quietly as I came here;
Quietly I wave good-bye
To the rosy clouds in the western sky.
The golden willows by the riverside
Are young brides in the setting sun;
Their reflections on the shimmering waves
Always linger in the depth of my heart.
The floatingheart growing in the sludge
Sways leisurely under the water;
In the gentle waves of Cambridge
I would be a water plant!
That pool under the shade of elm trees
Holds not water but the rainbow from the sky;
Shattered to pieces among the duckweeds
Is the sediment of a rainbow-like dream?
To seek a dream? Just to pole a boat upstream
To where the green grass is more verdant;
Or to have the boat fully loaded with starlight
And sing aloud in the splendour of starlight.
But I cannot sing aloud
Quietness is my farewell music;
Even summer insects heep silence for me
Silent is Cambridge tonight!
Very quietly I take my leave
As quietly as I came here;
Gently I flick my sleeves
Not even a wisp of cloud will I bring away
