众所周知，医德和医术是医务人员的灵魂，也是唐代医学家孙思邈所著《大医精诚》中的精华。其中大医指优秀的医务人员，精即为专业熟练，诚指品德高尚。作为一名优秀的医务人员，就要全心全意为人民的健康服务，技术上就要精益求精，生命不息，探索不止。扁鹊、华佗、李时珍等行医者能千古留传，医学著作仍被世世代代沿用，他们就是大医：在防病治病工作中，涌现出的一大批医术精湛、医德高尚、群众称颂的优秀医务人员，他们又何尝不是大医呢?
当传染性极强的非典病毒突然袭来的时候，无数医务人员、科研人员冒着生命危险主动投入到这场没有硝烟的战斗中去。曾经有人问中国工程院院士广州呼吸病研究所所长钟南山，为什么会主动提出把危重病人集中到研究所来?为什么60多岁了还不顾危险每天到病房查看病人?钟南山回答很简单：治病救人是医生的天职，没有豪言壮语，但又有谁能说他不是大医呢?他就是新时代的大医。
